Job Description: Established downtown public relations firm with clients in the healthcare, hospitality, trade show, non-profit and financial/legal service industries is looking for an account manager to oversee 4-6 client accounts. Tasks will be diverse, with many involving copywriting (news releases, e-newsletters, pitches and blogs). Additional responsibilities will include generating e-newsletters, coordinating and posting social media content, and media pitching and follow-up.

The position will start as a subcontractor opportunity at $15/hour with approximately 15-20 hours/week. The potential exists for future full-time work as a salaried employee.

Skills required: Advanced writing skills (experience with news release writing is necessary), story development and media pitching experience, ability to work directly with clients and provide strategic marketing & communication direction, understanding/experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) programs, social media management experience is a plus.

Qualifications: Candidates must have some experience in marketing, communications, PR or journalism. Recent graduates may apply, however, must have previous intern experience in a marketing or communications firm/agency.

Overview
With national offices in Louisville, Kentucky, the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) focuses on the national and international mission work of the church. It serves and works with congregations, presbyteries, and synods as the central provider of resources that enable individuals, congregations, and governing bodies to carry forth the mission of Jesus Christ in the world. The work at the Presbyterian Center is carried out by approximately 325 staff members who provide overall support for the mission of the church.
Job Skills/Requirements
1. Develops and executes communications strategy for ministry areas.
2. Develops multi-faceted communications plans, which include message development, web presence, advocacy and social media to educate and motivate target audiences.
3. Provides strategic communications analysis to develop multi-year communications planning, including developing communications goals, establishing priorities, messaging and determining success measurements.
4. Provides strategic counsel and evaluation to ministry directors and program staff.
5. Works with ministry leadership to develop strategic communications plans for new initiatives as they arise, ensuring those priorities.
6. Ensures all new and traditional communications work is aligned with and actively advances the priorities of the organization over the short and long-term.
7. Works with ministries leadership on an ongoing basis to think through current challenges and offer advice and counsel on critical issues of concern.
8. Remains current with new and emerging strategies, technologies, and tools that can improve the strategic communications efforts of the ministry areas.
9. Oversee and manage all collateral production, marketing and communication planning for all the events.
10. Supports external media relations.
11. Supports leadership itineration efforts including the Ambassadors program.Requirements:
– Active engagement in a protestant church
– Bachelors Degree required.
– Five to seven years of strategic marketing communications experience
– Extensive strategic communication planning skills
– Strong communication, analytical and strategic mindset
– Strong public relations agency experience
– Detail-oriented and strategy-driven
– Must be experienced at working with senior-level management to provide counsel, guidance and direction on communications initiatives and programs
– Must have a broad vision with the ability to set short- and long-term planning goals in line with larger organizational priorities
– Strong critical thinking abilities
– Strong collaborative spirit and leadership ability
– Strong writing and editing skills; ability to produce clear, concise materials on tight deadlines.
– Ability to think strategically and work effectively with others in a team environment

– Experience working in a religious or charitable organization.
– Experience in developing and executing integrated marketing communications for a service or program area within an organization or company.
– Superior writing and editing skills with the ability to translate complex and/or sensitive information into easy to understand content
– Understanding and sensitivity of working with diverse constituencies (ethnic/gender diversity) along with volunteers.
– Strong project management, time management and prioritization skills.
– Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
– Must have strong customer/client management skills.
– Demonstrated ability of gaining the trust and confidence of leadership in handling confidential and sensitive matters with discretion.
– Self-motivated with the ability to thrive under pressure and meet multiple deadlines.
– Handles conflict professionally in a constructive and positive manner.
– Must have strong organizational skills, be detail-oriented and possess the ability to be proactive and follow projects through to completion.
